Change and Becoming a New Creature in Christ - January 1, 2019

Exactly one year ago I stood here at the top of a mountain in Korea with many others watching the sun rise for its first time in 2018, exuding fresh hope and newness of life. I remember thinking that I wanted to repeat that tradition each year to feel those same feelings, but there are no mountains anywhere near Iowa, so here I am in my house!

Just as the sun rises to clear away the dark and give a start to a new year which can be different from the old, through the enabling power of Jesus Christ I know that I can improve and become a new person. All of my new year's resolutions might fall through if I were left alone, but with His help I can truly change. Happy New Year!

"Real repentance must involve faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, faith that He can change us, faith that He can forgive us, and faith that He will help us avoid more mistakes. Without the Redeemer, the inherent hope and joy evaporate, and repentance becomes simply miserable behavior modification." - Elder Dale G. Renlund
