Become As a Little Child - 14 May 2022

“Except ye be converted, and BECOME AS LITTLE CHILDREN, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."
Christ consistently teaches us that we must become as little children to be saved. What does He see in little children that we should admire and emulate?
In my experience, little children tend to avoid overthinking or over-complicating life. They don't approach life through a "mature" filter of cynicism or skepticism. Instead, they are quick to believe and quick to love, which brings them pure joy. They don't argue over trivial things and focus instead on what is most important. When facing changes and challenges, they tackle them with excitement rather than fear. If they make mistakes or fall over, they might cry for a moment, but they quickly and energetically get back to their feet and toddle forward with a bigger smile. And they never, ever, compare themselves to others.
Little children are sincere, honest, and genuine. They do their very best to do what is right, be kind to others, and learn to be like their parents. They naturally and instinctively put their full faith and trust in people who are worthy of it, cheerfully and enthusiastically learn and grow through their help, and humbly and dedicatedly follow their example in every aspect of their lives. And all of this is exactly what the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about.
“Ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and BECOME AS A LITTLE CHILD, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.”

Scripture references: Matthew 18:3, 3 Nephi 11:37
